Lt James William Akerman

His ADRIC entry says DCM, but I cannot get that anywhere. RIC has him as James W Akerman, born Essex. One register says Capt in RFA and DVR for awards and other says Lt (no regt) and DCM. Having been up and down references he has to be this man. The 1911 census below has him at 216 Queens Rd, as does his Essex Regt attestation

1917 Apr 9 Posted missing, but found in casualty station with mild sprain to knee and ankle

1917 Jun 10 Posted to Essex Yeomanry

1917 Sep 24. Transfers to Royal Warwick Regt

1917 Nov 20 Sent on Officer Cadet Course

1918 Jul 31. Yeomanry. Cadet James William Akerman to be 2nd Lt.

1920 Jan 1. Yeomanry. Essex. 2nd Lt. J. W. Akerman to be Lt. Reconstruction of Essex Yeomanry postwar means that it is quite possible he was RFA-it was his third choice of unit-so if first (EY) had gone-and second (MGC) then quite possible he is notionally RFA.

1920 Jul 30 Joins ADRIC with service no 55. He must have been with A Coy, given he says he was in Kilkenny in Ireland when he reaches Ellis Island

1921 Feb 11. Permitted to resign on completing 6 months service.

1922 May 4. Leaves UK on SS Olympic for New York. Travels 2nd Class. Harold Charles Parsons is travelling with Robert Phillip Smith, James William Akerman and Mortimer Osmond Griffiths and they are going to Anderson's Ranch Durango, Mexico

1922 May 10 Ellis Island arrives show a James William Akerman arriving in New York. Last addtess was Kilkenny, Ireland and he was aged 30, and en route to Mexico

1924 Oct/Dec Marries Mildred Wall at West Ham

1937 Wife Mildred petitions for divorce

1968 Probably died Southend on Sea
