1886 Aug 9. Born Malaga, Spain. Son of Francis Wright Bernard. His father later gives his profession as "Vice Consul Argentina". It is unclear if that is Canadian or Argentine, given his home was in Canada. I assume this was why the birth was in Malaga

1915 Feb 15 Enlisted in Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was single and a rancher

1915 Aug 12. Commissioned 2nd Lt. The undermentioned to be Second Lieutenants (on probation). Frank Cyril Bernard, 4th Battalion, Royal Irish Fusiliers

1916 Jun 7. The undermentioned 2nd Lieut. on probation are confirmed in their rank: β€” R Ir Fus. 2nd Lt. F. C. Bernard (Spec. Res.).

1916 Dec 17 . R. Ir. Fus. The undermentioned to be temp. Lts.: 2nd Lt. F. C. Bernard (Spec. Res.).

1917 Jul 1. Promoted Lt.

1919 Feb 9. Demobilised

1920 Jun 3. 4th R. Ir. Fus. Relinquishes his commission β€” Lts.β€”And retain the rank of Lt.:β€” F. C. Bernard.

1925 Nov 25. MIC shows him at Belfield, Stillorgan Rd, Dublin

He appears to marry and stay in UK after this, but I cannot find UK nor Ireland marriage

1930 Apr 8. He leaves UK for Gibraltar. He is a farmer, travels alone, and his address is Belfield, Stillorgan Rd, Dublin (same as MIC)

1934 Sep 20. He and wife Freida leave UK for Gibraltar. They have a Rickmansworth address.

1935 Electoral Roll in Hammersmith. Living with Margaret Elizabeth and Henry Raymond Bernard

1934 Oct 19 Arrives in UK from Gibraltar with his wife Freida. They travel 1st class.

1939 Register at Stourbridge, Worcs ARP Officer for North Worcs.

1959 Aug 10. Died Gloucestershire aged 73 This may not be him, but widow's name is correct, even though his 2nd name is given as Cecil not Cyril ( Francis Cecil Bernard). And in fact the burial record shows him as Francis Cyril Bernard.
