Apart from his MIC I cannot get anything on him. He appears to had a substantial Indian Background, but nothing shows for birth there. Absence of shipping records.
1892 born Middlesex (RIC) There is a "Archibald Richard Cooper " born Middlesex in Apr/Jun 1892, but he appears to have been killed during 1915 (CWGC)
1918 Jul 21 Commissioned 2nd Lt in 117th Marhatta (from MIC, I cannot get it in LG) Three Marhatta battalions distinguished themselves during the First World War in the long drawn-out Mesopotamia campaign. The 117th Marhattas (present 5 Maratha LI) was made into a Royal battalion for its conspicuously distinctive service during its campaign in Mesopotamia, the battalion majority formed by the gallant Marhatta warriors from Khandesh region of Nasik and particularly in the events leading to enemy capitulation after the bitter 146 day siege at Kut-el-Amara for some unclear reasons even after winning, this regiment did not return back.
