After leaving Ireland he became a carpet salesman for a couple of years before becoming a salesman for Royal Dutch Shell in about 1925. He must have moved to Leeds about then.

During the war he was based at RAF Cardington at the assessment centre. He became a Squadron Leader and I believe he may have been in charge. I have one of those large photos taken at the time and he is in the centre front.
After the war he carried on working with Shell until retiring in 1955 when he bought a preparatory school, Upfield, in Stroud which he ran with my mother.
1980 Married in Hemel Hempstead to Diana Moring Hunter. He had left his first wife around 1939 when he re-joined the RAF, but never divorced her, and only re-married when she died.
1981 died in Stroud.
