2nd Lt Joseph Alexander/Aloysius Power

   

 

1894 Jul 12. Born Waterford. (the birth is recorded as just Joseph Power, but RIC entry has Joseph Alexander)

There are two families with a Joseph of exactly the right age in Waterford censuses of 1901 and 1911. Oddly both fathers are Labourers

1915 Feb 20. Commissioned in ASC. He appears to have been invalided out, and applies for SWB on 15 Sep 1916, but this is refused, as are 2 further applications, until a SWB was granted 25 Jul 1919.

1915 May 5. ASC. The undermentioned temporary Second Lieutenants relinquish their commissions on account of ill-health : — J. A. Power.

1918 Apr 22. Joins RAF as a Cadet. Nothing else except his full, correct dob on the record

1921 Jan 4. Joined ADRIC with service no 1429. Posted to M Coy. Joined in Ireland

1921 Mar 19 . Posted to H Coy

1921 Apr 2. Posted to Dept Coy

1921 Apr 27. Posted to B Coy

1921 Jan 14. Discharged on demobilisation of ADRIC

1922 Mar 2.. Joined British Gendarmerie section of Palestine Police as a Constable

1922 Mar 22 Leaves UK for Palestine as part of a Police Contingent on SS City of Exeter. The main group left on Apr 12, so he was part of a first group

1922 Jun 28. Resigned from British Gendarmerie.

1932 Feb 9. Leaves UK for Egypt. He is a government official . His UK address is 3 Bury Rd, Hatfield. He travels 3rd class with his wife and child

1934 Aug 17. Leaves UK for Egypt. He is a government official
