1918 Jun 22. Awarded MC. ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. It was mainly owing to his coolness and resource that all six guns of his battery were removed intact to a new position under heavy fire. Later, when the battery was again shelled, he showed great skill in selecting a new position, where his guns were again brought into action.’
