1875 Aug 2. born Alloa, Scotland. He gave the RIC the right date, but claimed he was born in Cheste. One of his army records led me to the true birth. Percy was illegitimate, his mother had him by another man after her husband died. The Scottish registrar was uncertain if Percy's Surname was his mother's maiden name ot married name

fron 1871 census his mother appears to be Elizabeth Macfarlane, who was a fish seller. "Pamel" is "Daniel" and he married Elizabeth McEwan in 1863 & died in Alloa in 1874
