1916 Dec 2. Commissioned 2nd Lt in Heavy MGC

He became a tank commander in 13th Company 'E ' Battalion. He had to ditch his tank 'Executioner at 3rd Ypres and then at Cambrai his 'Empire' tank was hit at the Brown line but rallied (possibly wounded)

His section commander was Captain Tatnell and the section consisted of three Tanks
