Maurice Burke, Indian Army

   

Born from RIC Maurice Burke b Clare 1893. It seems that only Maurice was an officer in Indian Army. In fact no Maurice Burke was born in Clare at that time, but the Indian army man was born in India of Irish Parents, and appears to be the right man, though difficult to get any information on.

In the Matter of a Bankruptcy Petition To MAURICE BURKE, of the Osbome Hotel, Torquay, in the county of Devon, a Lieutenant in His Majesty's Army, and lately residing at Lahore, in the Empire of India. Take notice, that a bankruptcy petition has been presented against you in this Court at the instance of Ranken and Company, of 13A, George Street, Hanover Square, London, Civil and Military Tailors, and the Court has ordered that the publication of this notice in the London Gazette and in the Daily Telegraph and the Western Morning News newspapers shall be deemed to be service of the petition upon you; and further take notice, that the said petition will be heard at the County Court Offices, 13, Bedford-circus, Exeter, on the 29th day of December, 1916, at 12 o'clock noon, on which day you are required to appear, and if you do not appear the Court may make a receiving order against you in your absence. The petition can be inspected by you on application at this Court.

1940 USA census, he is staying with wife and her parents in Vandergrift, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. He has no occupation.

1942 Apr 27 Registers for US WW2 draft

 

1956 Jun 2. Died in Vandergritt. He has pushed his rank up to Major
