Percival Arthur Robert George, Middlesex Regt


Somewhat enigmatic. He certainly served in WW1 as Percival Arthur Robert George, but nothing in BMD or census, and MIC says "deleted from list" but nothing in LG to say that. However the WW1 Red Cross information does give the answer, he was South African

1888 Jul 15. Born Barkly, South Africa son of Robert George (a Toll Keeper) and his wife Helena

1901 Census, he is at school in Abingdon, Oxon

1916 Feb 16. Arrives in UK from South Africa. He was a Clerk

1917 Jun 27. Midd'x R.— Percival Arthur Robert George commissioned 2nd Lt

1917 Nov 20. P. A. R. George 2nd Lieutenant of the 8th Battalion Liverpool Regiment was reported missing

1918 Dec 13, He was repatriated back to UK. Western Theatre of Operations.

1918 Dec 27. Midd'x R. Temp. 2nd Lt. P. A. R. George to be temp. Lt.

1920 Apr 15. Midd'x R. Temp. Lt. P. A. R. George relinquishes his commission on completion of service, and retains the rank of Lt.

1921 Jan 17. Joined ADRIC with service no 1532. Posted to N Coy

1922 Jan 14 Discharged on demobilisation of ADRIC

1936 He is a witness in a divorce case. He was a lodger at the house of a Mrs Watson in Margate, and is described as a "hotel staff man" under his full name

1939 Register He appears to be an unemployed Hotel Porter at 11 Dane Hill Row , Margate M.B., Kent,

1939 Nov 22. Lt. P. A. R. George, late The Midd'x R., relinquishes the rank of Lt. on enlistment into the Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps. 22nd Nov. 1939

1970 Sep Died at Thanet Kent.
