His use of HGG is difficult to follow, he appears to have started using it around 1920

1920 Mar 17. NOTE.—I.A.R.O.—In Lon. Gaz. notifn. dated . 3rd Dec.. 1920, granting temporary commissions in the I.A.R.O. to certain officers, under " To be Captains " delete the entry regarding Harry Goddard, and under " To be Lieutenants " insert " Harry Gerard Gordon Goddard. 17th Mar. 1920, but to rank from 29th May 1919."
1920 Jan 20 Married in Dublin to Susan Poole. A remarkable woman that may have spied for Collins, and was certainly living with and bearing children with another man in Ireland 1925- 1928 John Leahy (described as 28 years old, from Galway and an ex-British Naval Officer)- she got a suspended 12 month sentence for fraud with this man in 1928 in Ireland, and may have wanted the IRA to kill her husband. Note he did not join ADRIC until after the Truce, in Oct 1921

1938. Sep 15 Leaves UK for Port Said "Crown Agents" HGG Goddard" with Mrs Goddard
1939 Jun 22. Jewish News Archive "British Police Inspector Harry Goddard was found guilty today of charges that he had helped smuggle Jews into Palestine and was sentenced to probation of two years on a bond of £200. In sentencing him, District Judge Bernard V. Shaw explained that he had taken into account his previous good record and the police methods used in uncovering the smuggling conspiracy."
