1892 Oct 25. Born Surrey (from RIC register) It is quite a rare name, and he does not seem to have been born as Hastings, or if so to overseas parents. I cannot find him in any of the censuses, even up to 1911. Reasrch has now shown that he wsa born Leslie Edward Hogg, and changed his name between 1901 and 1911 to Leslie Edward Hastings

1911 census. There is a Leslie Hastings aged 18 working as a Billiard Marker at the National Liberal Club, born Hackney. This appears to be the same man as Leslie Edward Hogg.
