Capt Patrick Earle, Manchester Regt


1880 Mar 17. Born Limerick. His father, James Earle, is a labourer. Protestant in RIC Register. The only birth I can find is this, but the date is wrong.

1900 May 21. Attests at Liverpool to Manchester Regiment for 7 years colours (he extends this later to 12 years). He is a groom. His father is James Earle of Rhosddu, Wrexham.

1905 Feb 18 Posted to India.

1911 census with 1st battalion Manchester Regt in India

1912 Dec 28. Posted back to UK.

1912 Dec 31. Discharged at end of his service. He has made L/Cpl

1914 Nov 12. Enlists in Manchester Regt "arrived from abroad" (seems to be that he arrived form New York on 13 Oct 1914)

1914 Dec 6. Promoted Cpl

1915 Jan 2, Promoted Sgt.

1915 Nov 25. Posted Overseas - Mediterranean

1916 Jul 10. Posted to France

1916 Dec 31. Posted back to UK

1917 Feb 6. Posted to Cadet training school.

1917 May 30. The undermentioned cadets to be temp. 2nd Lts. (attd.). Manchester Regt. Patrick Earle

1920 Nov 15. Joined ADRIC with service no 1030. Posted to I Coy. His next of kin is his sister, Mrs Margaret Noble, 218 West 22nd St, New York

1921 May 21. Promoted Section Leader

1921 Sep 1. Service Battalions. The undermentioned relinquish their commissions on. completion of service: —Manch. R. - Temp. Lts.: — P. Earle, and is granted the rank of Capt

1921 Sep 1 to 13 Sep on Leave

1922 Jan 17 Discharged on demobilisation of ADRIC

1922 Mar 29. Joined the British Gendarmerie section of the Palestine Police as a Constable

1922 Apr 4. Resigned from British Gendarmerie, so never went to Palestine.

1922 Aug 2. Emigrates to Australia and can be followed in Australian Electoral Roll until 1942 in Western Australia. I suspect that Foley is also the Foley in ADRIC and in I Coy

1944 Mar. This would appear to be his death
