1900 May 21. Attests at Liverpool to Manchester Regiment for 7 years colours (he extends this later to 12 years). He is a groom. His father is James Earle of Rhosddu, Wrexham.

1912 Dec 31. Discharged at end of his service. He has made L/Cpl
1913 Feb 20 Leaves UK for New York with Frank Earle . Patrick is a Groom and Frank 7 years younger is a Miner
1914 Nov 12. Enlists in Manchester Regt "arrived from abroad" (seems to be that he arrived form New York on 13 Oct 1914)
