1918 Jul 23. MC Gazetted. Lt. Donald MacDonald, Cam'n Highrs. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in command of his company. When the unit on his left was driven back he extended his flank and caused the enemy enormous casualties, only retiring when both flanks were turned. Throughout the day he showed great initiative and courage, crossing to and fro over ground swept by heavy fire to encourage and cheer his men.
