1918 Apr 2, MC Citation gazetted " T. Lt. (A./Capt.) Cyril Joseph Oake, E. Yorks. R. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during a daylight raid. He steadied his company on the way across to the enemy’ s lines and prevented them from advancing too eagerly into our own barrage. He timed his advance so well that he entered the enemy trench just as they were mounting a machine-gun. The gun was captured and the team were killed or taken prisoners. The success of the raid and the small number of casualties were largely due to him
