1900 Mar 23. Born Narayangang, Eastern Bengal, India. Son of Thomas Carmichael David and Flora Sarah Steward (he gives 23 Jul 1898 on enlisting to appear older, the date of 23 Mar 1900 is the correct one from the family). His father was in Indian Army

1910 Jul to Jul 1915 Student at King Edward VI Grammar School at Saffron Walden

1915 Dec 1. Enlisted in Royal Naval Division as a Boy, then went on to RNAS and then RAF

 

1918 Apr 1. Infantry , to be 2nd Lt Frederick Hector Stewart David, R.A.F. 16th Jan. 1919, but to rank from 1st Apr. 1918 (he had originally been commissioned in RNAS)

1918 Nov 6. Frederick Hector Stewart David, late 2nd Lt., R.A.F., to be temp. 2nd Lt., Gen. List, for service with Ind. Army Res. of Off. (on prob.). 6th Nov. 1918, with seniority from 1st Apr. 1918

1920 Oct 25. Joins ADRIC with service no 852. Posted to I Coy. Roll says 25th Punjabi

1922 Oct/Dec Marries to Beryl B W Backler in Linton, Cambridgeshire. Beryl was one of the so called 'Jewel Sisters' as her and her sisters were named after precious gems. Her sisters were Ruby, Emerald and Pearl.
