1874 Nov 14. Born Worcs on RIC Register. The problem is that he altered his age repeatedly in order to appear older at the start of enlisting and younger towards the end. His death cert gives a birth of 1870, and I would take that as about right. But te 1868 GRO entry is probably the right one
1885 Jan 18. Enlisted in Worcs Regt. NOK is mother Ann Biggs of Red Lion St, Reddich, Worcs. He claims he is 18 years & 3 months (implying birth of Nov 1867 - this is probably correct, though he could had added to his age to enlist, and it wold line up with 1868 GRO entry if he added a year on his age))
