1884 Oct 27 Born Nairn in RIC Register. Son of George & Margaret Fiddes from Marriage Cert. However I cannot get a birth, nor censuses, nor a marriage in the names of his parents. Basically the sign of a name only emerging in 1916 tends to mean tha it has been changed. I suspect that "Brunton" in his name may be a clue, but I have not been able to find a suitable man
