1909 Feb 12 Albert deserts wife and children. Consequently, the family enter the workhouse on 27 March 1909. By July, Elizabeth and Gladys had left but other children remained.
1910 Mar 13 Albert charged with desertion leaving family needing poor relief. Sentenced to 2 months hard labour. He had been living in Dewsbury with a young woman as man and wife. There must have been a reconciliation however, as he and Elizabeth had 4 more children
1911 census at Batley in Yorks, He appears to be working thee, and his wife is visiting him
1913 Nov 22 Wakefield, Yorks. Albert was the chauffer of a car that hit and killed a 4 year old boy near Wakefield. A verdict of accidental death was recorded and Albert was completely exonerated
