There is a Thomas Poole that is probably him. Whether he was born late on 31 dec or early on 1 Jan, and the wrong year is within the errors of RIC information

1939 Register at 6 Terrick Road, Haringay, Wood Green . A Postman living with wife Emily Gertrude Poole. She appears to re-marry a Kendall in Apr 1947, so I assume Thomas Poole was dead by then
