1914 Sep 24 Enlists in Canadian Exp Force. NOK given as Miss B Olster of Star Hill, Rochester , Kent. Previously in N Staffs Regt. NOK changes to Mrs E Smith , High St, Birkhampstead

1915 Jun 8 Embarks for England

1915 Jun 27 Posted to France

1916 Sep 16 Discharged no longer medically fit for war service. Address is Popes Lode, Twickenham

1932 Apr 4 Died Camberwell. He was a Commercial Traveller

 

It certainly looks as if he abandoned his family. See that one of his sons changed his surname to Hennessy
