1891 census He and his brother Frederick were at St Pancras Industrial School, Leavesden. Its full title was " St. Pancras Industrial School, and Refuge for Destitute Boys," This was a school for 500 pauper children from London. Which sort of ties in with family word saying that William was possibly orphaned or abandoned at an early age and was taken to Southend in a "boat for orphans".
