J Company ADRIC

J Company was created almost entirely from internal transfers rather than assigning new men (24 men from F Coy on 19 Nov, 24 men from A Coy on 23 Nov and 23 men on 23rd Nov from B Coy. In other words three existing Platoons were transferred wholesale. The records have disappeared that would show the origin of each platoon in J Coy from the three original platoons

• 1920 Nov 10 to 10 Feb 1921 J C Fillery was the first CO and he was posted back to Depot . I suspect he was effectively removed from command following the Croke Park inquiries, and that Seafield Grant was really in command from Jan 1921
• 11 Feb 1921 to 25 Feb 1921. Seafield Grant was promoted to Company Commander and was killed in the Coolavohig Ambush on 25 Feb 1921
• 28 Feb 1921 to 28 May 1921 WP Gill . Gill then reverted to T/Cadet before being discharged medically unfit
• 28 May 1921 to Jan 1922. CEA Williams took over as company commander (he was a DI2 in J Coy from 27 Apr, and was temporary Coy Commander from then, as Gill was sick.)

• 16 Dec 1920 to 11 Feb 1921 Seafield Grant was promoted 2nd in Command until 11 Feb 1921 when he was promoted to Company Commander
• 11 Feb 1921 to 14 May 1921 WH Simpson who was posted to J Coy as a DI2 but no dates are given in Register I suspect he was DI2 from 2 Jan 1921. He was posted out as 2nd in Command of Depot Coy
• 14 May 1921 to Jan 1922. T Mitchel posted to J Coy as 2nd in Command and stays on that position till demobilisation
